Mark is a lively story-teller who has entertained many audiences with his down-to-earth spirituality. He has debated with atheists on Premier Christian Radio and appeared on Channel 4, the BBC World Service and the Australian ABC network. Mark taught philosophy and RE for many years and is now Director of RealityBites, where he blogs.
Honorary Coordinator, Faith-in-Scholarship
Richard has worked in teaching and research in England, South Africa, Australia and France, specialising in plant and landscape ecology and policy evaluation. He is an author of more than 25 academic papers and book chapters in ecology, conservation science and philosophy. He is on the Advisory Board for the Jubilee Centre and a member of the British Ecological Society. He is now a lecturer at the University of Winchester.
Operations, Finance and Communication
Ben runs Bromeliad Services, a small agency specialising in design, websites, operations management, finances and other services. A maths graduate from York University, Ben worked for the Fresh Expressions team for nine years, as well as pioneering a church for young people. A talented musician and keen Ultimate Frisbee player, Ben enjoys board games and skiing.
Cal is a qualified Chartered Accountant, a National Engineering Scholar and, until his retirement, Sustainability Director for NG Bailey. He has an MA in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from the University of Oxford, is a Reader at his local parish church in Leeds and is particularly interested in how business can better serve the kingdom of God. Cal is the Chair of our Trustees.
David’s career as a consultant surgeon included senior lectureship at the University of Leeds. Formerly General Secretary of the International Association for Reformed Faith and Action, he has maintained links with Christian scholars in many disciplines around the world. David's wife Ruth - a researcher and teacher in psychology at the Cambridge Institute of Criminology and the universities of Birmingham, Bradford and Leeds - founded Thinking Faith (then known as WYSOCS), along with her colleague, David Lyon.
Anne is the Clinical Director of Solace Surviving Exile and Persecution, a specialist therapeutic service for refugees and asylum seekers in Yorkshire. Her interest in what enables human flourishing has led to studies in theology and philosophy as well as feminism, psychology and psychotherapy. Previously Anne developed and tutored a distance learning course on Gender and Public Policy for the Theology & Politics program at Sarum College, and more recently was the lead writer for a City of Sanctuary mental health resource pack.
Steve is programme coordinator for the City of Bristol College, a distance learning tutor at St John's College, and maintains the reformational/neocalvinist website allofliferedeemed.co.uk.
