Knife and sharpening steel

Event Date:

September 23, 2022

Event Time:

8:00 pm

Event Location:

Online, via Zoom

Our theme will be the persecution of Christians around the world.

We will interview Paul Marshall who is the Wilson Distinguished Professor of Religious Freedom at Baylor University, and research professor in political science there. He also heads the South and Southeast Asia program at the Religious Freedom Institute and is a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute.

Paul is the author and editor of more than twenty books on religion and politics, especially religious freedom, including more recently, Persecuted: The Global Assault on Christians (2013, with Lela Gilbert and Nina Shea), Silenced: How Apostasy Laws and Blasphemy Codes are Choking Freedom Worldwide (2011, with Nina Shea), Blind Spot: When Journalists Don’t Get Religion (2009), Religious Freedom in the World (2008), and Radical Islam’s Rules: The Worldwide Spread of Extreme Sharia Law (2005). He was also a part of the Christianity and Freedom Project headed by the Berkley Center’s Religious Freedom Project.

Iron Sharpens Iron is all about sharpening up as a disciple of Jesus Christ. We are inspired by Proverbs 27:17,

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

Iron Sharpens Iron is completely free and open to anyone, although we invite you to donate towards our work (with a suggestion of £5 per event). If you wish to donate an amount not given below, or set up a regular donation, you can donate online (opens in a new tab),

Each event starts at 8pm when our speaker presents a short talk, and then we discuss the topic in hand. We want everyone to contribute to the discussion. We encourage heated debate. We want to learn from each other so we can bear fruit for Jesus Christ, the Lord of heaven and earth. Join at 7.50pm to chat with other participants.

Meetings take place on Zoom. The invitation link and meeting details will be in your order confirmation emails which will be sent to you when you complete checkout of your order. If they do not arrive within a few minutes then please check your promotions, clutter, ‘other’, spam or junk folders (you may have multiple of these depending on your email provider) as order confirmations often get intercepted.
