UCB Interview with Vicky Gibbens

I was very impressed by the presenter Vicky Gibbens who interviewed me yesterday on her radio show. I’ve been interviewed on the radio quite a few times and I’ve often come away feeling rather deflated and disappointed. I’m making myself vulnerable here. With Vicky it was completely different. It wasn’t Read more

The Story of Fred Lemon who met Jesus and Two Angels in Prison

Fred Lemon was born in 1914 in the east end of London. He grew up in the world of jellied eels, winkles and cheeky, cockney geezers. His mum and dad taught young Fred “to steal whenever there was an opportunity and to forage in dustbins for rags and bottles and Read more

The Inspiring Story of Amy Carmichael

The Bible is very honest about human depravity. In the Old Testament the prophets were profoundly aware of how idolatry can destroy countless lives. William Tyndale was born in Stinchcombe, Gloucestershire in 1494. He was a gifted linguist and wordsmith who crafted many evocative phrases such as ‘the fat of the land’, the ‘writing is on the wall’ and ‘the powers that be’. Amazingly he was fluent in eight languages. Hebrew, Greek, Latin, French, Read more

Was Spinoza Right about the Devil?

Baruch Spinoza (1632–1677) was a famous Dutch rationalist philosopher. He believed that pure unaided reason can tell us everything we need to know. He believed that God is the same as Nature (pantheism). In other words only God exists. He contended that brilliant boffins (like him) can prove conclusively that Read more
